Orlando Trip - Portobello

Hi everyone! I'm back in action, this past month or so have been busy. I went away with Will and his family to Toronto for a few days during July 4th weekend, we been on a house hunting trail, and I've been job hunting and been running all around interviewing. I've accumulated a few rejections and waiting to hear back on a few companies. Tomorrow, Thursday and Friday I've got a few and hopefully it'll go well.

I'm taking a break from the job hunting right now and moving along to catching up with my food blog, so we're going to backtrack to my Orlando trip. Will and I ate at Portobello (an Italian restaurant) that was located inside Disney Springs (Downtown Disney). My heart is heavy since I found out they've closed since we ate there for dinner just after a few hours of being engaged.

We arrived to Portobello around 6-6:30PM and was happy to see that the restaurant had a lot of seats available. We sat down and looked at the menu and everything sounded amazing!

I started off with an Angry Orchard as a celebratory drink for our engagement and just because it was very HOT in Orlando.

Our waitress was excited to hear that we had just got engaged just a few hours prior to dinner and was extremely friendly and warm.

After putting in our orders, she brought out some garlic oil and their house made bread which was scrumptious!

Caesar Salad
I really wanted something light for our appetizer, so we ordered their Caesar salad which happened to be something we really enjoyed! The waitress actually gave us two separate plates for our salad, so Will and I were able to enjoy our salad on our own plates. The salad was tasty, not overly cheesy and fresh. I think we should have salads more for appetizers.

Entrees
Will had the Cappellini Aglio Olio (garlic, olive oil, and chile pepper). His dish was very simple and I thought it was weird that he didn't have any protein in it. His pasta tasted very basic Italian pasta, but at least he liked it. I ordered the Gnocchi (potato dumplings with Nonna's Sunday pork ragu) and it was amazing! Full of ragu flavor and super filling!

Chocolate cake
I really wasn't planning on ordering dessert even though sometimes I have a sweet tooth. However, our waitress brought us the most beautiful and thick slice of chocolate and said it's complimentary from the kitchen and the restaurant as a congratulations gift. I was honored that they did such a thing for us. It was like the perfect and sweetest ending to a delightful meal here.

Portobello was a nice, family-style and delicious Italian restaurant. My fiance and I were happy with the exceptional service I wish they didn't close. Prices were a little high, but than again it was in a touristy area. I know we've only been there once, but there's a happy memory attached to it.
