The Best Things We Ever Ate in 2013

Happy New Year to our fellow foodies!

2013 was a great year and I had the opportunity to try a lot of different foods and drinks with my boyfriend, my family, and friends. It's been a true bonding experience and unforgettable and exploding flavors.

I would like to share with you the top and best of 13 things we've eaten in 2013 and where you can find it.

Country Ham Biscuit from Egg

Country Ham Biscuit ($9.00) from Egg - Earlier this year, Will and I had a double date brunch with our friends Samantha and Alex. I've never had grits before, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. At first it looked almost like mashed potatoes. I really enjoyed the grits. It was soft in texture and the amount of cheese that was used was perfect! It was very filling and truly tasty.

Chocolate Macaron from Dana's Bakery

Chocolate Macaron from Dana's Bakery - One of my besties Diane works at Dana's Bakery and during the Summer, she presented me with some macarons she made for Will and I. I've had macarons before, but they weren't as delicious as the one I had from Dana's Bakery. It' sweet and you can really taste the love that was put into the macaron.

Gyoza from Ganso

Gyoza ($7.00) from Ganso - Every time Will and I order ramen, we must have gyoza as an appetizer. I've never seen gyoza served like this before, but it's nice and unique. It's extra crunchy. The gyoza was juicy and delish.

Braised Pork Belly Buns from Bite Size Kitchen

Braised Pork Belly Buns from Bite Size Kitchen - Once in a while, I do love a succulent and juicy braised pork belly bun. These were one of the best buns I've had. They're slightly sweet from the hoisin sauce and the buns are packed with amazing flavors.

Mix Fruit with Grass Jelly from Munchies Cafe

Mix Fruit with Grass Jelly ($4.75) from Munchies Cafe - I think you know by now that I am a huge fan of grass jelly. This dessert is filled with fresh fruits and grass jelly with a little coconut milk. It's colorful, vibrant, tasty, and refreshing!

Beer Battered String Beans from The Smith

Beer Battered String Beans ($10.00) from The Smith - Will and I had a double date brunch with our friends Samantha and Alex at The Smith recently. We saw the table next to us had the beer battered string beans with ranch sauce as an appetizer and it looked amazing, so we ordered it. Oh my goodness! These were absolutely, insanely delicious. They were so addicting!

Benedict Jane from Jane

Benedict Jane ($17.00) from Jane - For our friend Alex's birthday, we went to Jane for a birthday brunch with friends. According to Yelp reviews, the Benedict Jane seemed to be a popular item so Will ordered it. We've never had a Benedict like this before and it was truly an amazing dish!

I tried one of the Benedict Jane and it was great. Benedict Jane is unique because it's poached eggs covered with a rich tarragon Hollandaise sauce sitting on top of a moist, delicious crab and crawfish cakes.

Beef Goulash with Spatzle from Cafe Katja

Beef Goulash with Spatzle from Cafe Katja - I've been itching to try German food last year and according to my co-worker, beef goulash with spatzle is a traditional German dish. Will and I went on another double date dinner with our friends Alex and Samantha at Cafe Katja over the summer.

The beef goulash was amazingly moist, flavorful, and tender. It was a little spicy, but bearable. The spatzle was a little doughy and super filling.

Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple Butter from Clinton St. Baking Co

Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple Butter ($14.00) from Clinton St. Baking Company & Restaurant - I've never really liked pancakes, until last year. Will and I had a birthday brunch with our good friend Jack and his cousin Matt over the summer at Clinton St.

I heard their buttermilk pancakes was a popular menu item, so we all ordered to share. It was the most fluffiest pancake ever. I love how the blueberries was round, plump, and sweet. This was by far the best pancakes I've had so far!

Assorted Sushi from Sake

Assorted Sushi from Sake - There's a sushi restaurant in my neighborhood that everyone raves about It's an All-You-Can-Eat sushi restaurant and possibly one of the best I have been to. They have a variety of sushi rolls and appetizers for you to choose from. Their sushi is made fresh and on my most recent visit (two months ago), their sushi was amazing and truly delicious.

Takoyaki from Yakitori Boy

Takoyaki ($6.00 ) from Yakitori Boy - Earlier last year - my boyfriend, family, and I went to Yakitori Boy for dinner. I absolutely love takoyaki and we literally ordered like three dishes of takoyaki. The takoyaki was sprinkled with bonito flakes and dressed with Japanese mayonaise and special sauce.

The takoyaki was rich, crispy, and crunchy goodness on the outside and rich creaminess on the inside. This was one of the BEST takoyaki I've ever had and I've had a lot.

Pumpkin Pie in a Jar from The Smith

Pumpkin Pie in a Jar ($8.00) from The Smith - After having brunch with our friends Samantha and Alex at The Smith, we wanted dessert. I picked the Pumpkin Pie in a Jar and oh man, it was one of the best desserts I've ever had. First off, I love almost any dessert/food with pumpkin flavor or just pumpkin in it.

The pumpkin pie in a jar consisted of pumpkin cheesecake, cranberry gelee, pecan brittle, and sugared cranberries. The dessert was fantastic! Smooth, creamy, delicious, a little sweet, a little tart, a little crunchy all mixed inside.

Holiday Turkey from Earl of Sandwich

Holiday Turkey ($5.99) from Earl of Sandwich - My friend Christine recommended Earl of Sandwich located inside Downtown Disney for lunch. Will and I were recently down in Florida with our family and we were at Downtown Disney on New Year's Eve and we found Earl of Sandwich.

There was a lot of options for lunch, but I decided on the holiday turkey sandwich and it was absolutely heaven! It felt like Thanksgiving all over again. It was crunchy, savory, moist, and phenomenal! This was possibly quite the best sandwich I've had so far and at a cheap price.

I apologize for the fact we did not have this post up earlier. It was a hard decision to come to when thinking about the best dishes and food we've had this year. We hope you found this post to be helpful and that you will try out some of these wonderful food.
